awkward & awesome [mar. 31].

Hey there, it's thursday. Guess what? Awkward and Awesome, two weeks in a row. I'm organized. And I have enough semi-interesting points to share! Enjoy friends!

-Thinking, I’m going to “Like” this [facebook “like”] only to realize, wait, that's a text. Oh boy, I think I need to distance myself from social networking.
-Knowing that next week I am done classes and having this week draaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag on. Come on.
-Wanting to dye my hair ombre [See Rachel Bilson..], the  fact that I have never dyed my hair I should have taken that risk before I cut it all off. If it looked bad it was going anyways. Now I wish I would have, maybe in three years when it’s the same length..
-The fact that I am obsessed with making cupcakes and I can never get the perfect frosting! You know the nice kind like on DC Cupcakes and Cupcake Wars. WHY?! I am not thaaaaaaat stupid and I follow all recipes to a tee. Please if you know of a recipe or anything, help a girl out!
-Also, I find this more depressing than awkward but still, Steve Carell will finish his role as Michael Scott sooooon, only to return for guest appearances, which is better than nothing! I am going to cry. For sure. It’s just a fact. I am heartbroken. I love that man and his witty comments.

-My puppy’s new haircut, it’s adorable. Also she seems happier and more full of energy, like this new look has given her the confidence she needs.
-MY TV HAS RETURNED! It broke 2 month ago, I shipped it 3 weeks ago and now it is back. I am so excited. How bad that, first my facebook problem, now my tv addiction.
-Grey’s Anatomy. That is awesome. What’s better? The musical episode they are going to have tonight. Can. Not. Wait.
-The most awesome point of them all. My new glasses! [Seen above] My yearning for them was discussed here, and I think they are slightly different from Lucy Hale’s, but still they are fantastic!

baby barrettes.

Yes. Those are mini barrettes. Cue: "AWWWWW". So cute and hilarious at the same time. Dollar store - great place. She is one funny puppy.
Also, I have to say picture messaging (MMS) is the best invention. After the recent phone upgrade I finally have unlimited picture messaging and I'm sure my friends appreciate my breakfast, my new study spot and my cute puppy in photo form. Dear friends, your welcome!
On another note, I SEE THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL. Man am I pumped. Next Friday: Me + College Classes = Finished FOREVER.. [warning: do not be fooled, it just means I am moving up to university, slightly deceiving]

This is my new favorite nail  polish! I first saw the new Katy Perry OPI Collection and wanted the shatter coat super bad! Although every place I had gone was sold out! So one day I was on eBay and thought I should look it up, so I did but I also found out the China Glaze had a similar polish called Crackle. I thought I would give it a try [also it's price was $5 less than OPI].. Last week my package came and I couldn't wait to try the polish, hoping it would turn out correctly. And it DID! I fell in love with it, here I had my teal polish topped with the black crackle coat. I love the look and can't wait to start mixing colors!

pink lemonade.

So after watching a fair share of cupcake inspired TV on Friday night [DC Cupcakes & Cupcake Wars] I felt inspired by a recipe I saw on Cupcake Wars.. The baker presented a pink lemonade cupcake with marshmallow buttercream and topped with cotton candy. I knew I had to try this! Even though it sounded weird, I loved all the flavors and so after looking up pink lemonade cupcake recipes I settled on this one.
After work on Saturday I stopped and picked up the needed ingredients and headed home to my baking assistant who was waiting in her bed that I moved into the kitchen [she is more there for moral support don't worry].. The main difference was just the added pink lemonade juice concentrate that gave the cupcakes a subtle hint of pink lemonade.
After baking them I made the marshmallow buttercream using this recipe. It was good and worked well with the cupcake choice since the icing was very sweet to balance out the slightly sour taste of the lemonade. Next time I would definitely use more marshmallow but that is just out of personal preference.

The final product?

They were a hit! A little too summery given the fact that it is STILL snowing, but still.. It helped lighten the mood in preparation for spring.
[PS, my baking assistant fell asleep as soon as the cupcakes went into the oven, shown above]

awkward & awesome [mar.24].

-Eating supper that was once prepared – put in fridge – frozen – eaten as leftovers – put in fridge – then put in my lunch? Is this still even ok to eat? … Too late, just finished.
-Feeling like your second home is your place of work… and being ok with that?
-Having my adorable little dog BARF 3 times on my carpet in my room this morning. Yum.
-Brushing my teeth and after I put toothpaste on my toothbrush as I was pulling the brush towards my teeth I managed to flick [spray? I don’t know the word] toothpaste IN MY EYE. It burnt so bad. SO BAD.
-That was after I got shampoo in my eye earlier.

-Reading my second Classic Nancy Drew book since Sunday. After supper on Sunday too. I read really fast when it does not have to be done [YA I’m taking to you PSYC textbook, I will NOT brush that dust off you.]
-The fact that the auto-correct in my new phone was built in with swear words. Maybe I’m just weird but I thought that they weren’t so when I went to type shabby. Guess what popped up instead?
-HEYO less than 4 weeks of school left. THAT'S WHATS UP!
-My work. It just truly is AWESOME; sometimes for reasons that would make you cringe a little. Ok they fart on speaker phone; some people may think its gross, I think its hillllllarious!
-Speaking of work, something else that is great is the A&W onion rings that I just received from a kind coworker. Mmmmm, they are sooooo good and you know it.
-Oh ya and my new phone. It’s pretty awesome. I love the droid just because of the little green character.
-This picture I just found of my dog when she was little, aka a year ago, CA-UTE!

reading list.

So remember back in the day when you would go camping, on a long trip in the car or simply to your grandparents house, the amount of gadgets and toys to keep you occupied? I always had in hand a good ol' Nancy Drew book. I always loved the mystery books! They seem to be timeless, and although I have seen some of the brand new ones, I am still drawn to the classic, yellow spine and all.
At college, this semester my midterm week has lasted 4 weeks instead! I seem to have 1-2 midterms a week and by the time I've finished I'm back to the first class writing a second exam! It's brutal. I would much rather be stressed for one week cramming in all the exams then ruining a whole month+ with studying, stressing, and studying stress because that's one of my psychology chapters!
So back to Nancy Drew, I realized both through a little stress and a HUGE yearning for summer that my summer reading list will be just that. A relaxing stress free list of books that I have enjoyed, can read easily and will fill my mind with dreams of solving mysteries. So yes, the classic Nancy Drew books are on my summer reading list. Along with a few others, including Nicholas Sparks' The Lucky One. The movie version is due out sometime this year and I love reading his books before hand.
So listen up finance, hurry your little buns up. Wrap up. I don't care about calculating bond prices, or looking at the present value of a stock. Lets just agree to disagree. 3 weeks - that's all.

fun run.

Fun Run
So remember when I said I loved The Office tv series here? Well just so happens I bought one of the best things ever off of Ok, So, although it's not stylish I figure it would be great for working out [running?!].. It is an authentic Michael Scott's Dunder Mifflin Scranton Meredith Palmer Memorial Celebrity Rabies Awareness Pro-Am Fun Run Race For The Cure t shirt. The length of the statement just makes it THAT much funnier.
I can't get enough of this show. Even though I have seen every episode somehow I can watch it for hours and still be entertained! Although I love that, I know my finance mark isn't so fond. Either way, I just simply adore this show and it's whitty humor!

spring fever. gone.

So remember yesterday how I said "yay! Spring is coming! AHHHHHH I'M SO EXCITIED!".. Well maybe not in those EXACT words but still. So today I woke up and it's snowing. And cold. And snowing more. And windy. And icy. Mother Nature - STOP IT.
That is all.

spring fever.

SPRING! I think has finally came, well today at least. I know come tomorrow it could be back to snow drifts and icicles. But right now my window is open. YUP OPEN! Can you believe it? It is just such a great feeling when I know that spring is in the air! Also that means that all of my lovely friends will be coming home from Uni and joining me for a great summer filled with bonfires, beach trips and sandals. I miss sandals.
I had such a great summer last year [above, in Canmore with my bestie Katherine] we went and hung out with mountain sheep and then went kayaking. It was pretty sweet. Can't wait for this year!

PS. It's +1°C.. Does that make this post a little more pathetic.. wait no.. optimistic!

my 3 pound little nugget.

Little Miley decided to make a fort in my cable knit sweater. I found her like this curled up in a little ball. By the time I went to take a picture she popped her head out and was quite upset, I had ruined her slumber. What a little fart. She just loves to cuddle. And then run laps around the house for 10 mins. Returns to my lap and sleeps some more.

cupcakes. earrings. cupcake earrings!

So I found these super cute earrings on I had to order a pair! With my recent baking phase and with Katy Perry and her obsession with cupcakes I figured I'm super I could pull them off this spring/summer with some color blocking, or just simple beach attire.Cute huh? I kind of want to eat them.

baking in my [spare?] time.

So it's mid semester and I have truly been busy busy busy! I'm sorry for the delay of posts, I really have been in study/work mode since midterm week #2 has started. In my spare time I've been trying out some recipes for cupcakes and my favorite [although I still need practice] cake pops! I bought a book on them written by the fabulous blogger over at Bakerella. The book tells you step by step instructions on making the cutest cake pops ever! As well we have a few birthday's near the end of February, beginning of March so mainly I baked for those reasons. Not really because I had a lot of unused time to waste. Either way I had fun! Although some of it didn't turn out aesthetically the way I had hoped it all tasted delicious!
